We collect account information such as your name and email when you register, profile information you provide as a customer or manufacturer, and project details and files you submit through the platform.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to operate the marketplace: to create and manage your account, match projects with manufacturers, process payments, facilitate communication, and provide production tracking.
3. Role-Based Access
Access to data is scoped by role. Customers see their own projects, quotes and messages. Manufacturers see opportunities and projects matched to them. Admins manage the platform. Project files are only available to authorized participants.
4. Payments
Payment information is processed through Paystack. MakeQuote does not store full card details. Payment status and transaction references are recorded to operate the platform and track commissions and earnings.
5. Project Files
Files you upload are stored to make them available to authorized participants in the relevant project. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to share uploaded content.
6. Communication
Project-specific messaging is used for communication between customers and manufacturers. Message content is visible to the participants and to admins for support purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain account and project information for as long as needed to operate the platform and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account subject to ongoing project obligations.
8. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with manufacturers or customers as needed to facilitate projects, and with Paystack to process payments.
9. Security
We use role-based permissions, controlled file access and secure payment processing to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
10. Your Rights
You may access or update your profile information through the platform. You may contact us to request review or deletion of your data subject to ongoing obligations.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. POPIA — Protection of Personal Information Act
MakeQuote processes personal information in accordance with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We process your personal information for the purposes of operating the marketplace: creating and managing your account, matching projects with manufacturers, processing payments, facilitating communication, and providing production tracking. We only process the minimum personal information necessary for these purposes. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to the processing of your information subject to ongoing project obligations. We implement appropriate technical and organisational safeguards including role-based access control, encrypted payment processing, and private file storage to protect your information. Where necessary, we share information with service providers (such as payment providers and email delivery services) who process information on our behalf under appropriate data protection terms. We retain your personal information only for as long as needed to operate the platform and meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
